About us
Who we are
Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels is a Registered Charity (No. SC080754)
Our Social Hub and Headquarters are based in Napier Hall, 312 Dumbarton Road, Old Kilpatrick G60
5JH
Our project was born out of the needs of the most vulnerable and isolated members of the Old Kilpatrick Community. The Founders Maureen and Gordon Cummings sought to help in practical ways to ease the difficulties faced by the community during the first Covid lockdown. Initially providing food items with the support of owners of a local bar who offered us the use of their function suite to distribute foodparcels and we started our project on May 5th 2020. Since that time we have secured a permanent home in a warehouse unit and between May 2020 and October 2021 OKFP has provided emergency food and toiletries to over 12,000 people in our community and we have been assisted by almost 100 volunteers during that time. In March 2021 we were delighted to announce that Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels became a Registered Charity – SC080754.
Our approach
Our Mission
The primary purpose of Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels is the prevention and provision of relief from food poverty in the local area of Old Kilpatrick and its environs.
In so doing we seek to advance health in the local area; advance citizenship and the development of the community and helping in the relief of those in need by reason of their age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or any other disadvantage. We respond to the needs of the community, working towards the relief of financial hardship and social isolation. Providing a no questions asked means to support and provide a safe, confidential haven for those in need.
Our Vision
Although our main focus has always been providing a relief from food poverty, our community hub is now a focal point for the community to work together, providing a safe and welcoming space, for young and old alike.
Relieving social isolation, with numerous activities on a daily basis, signposting to professional organisations who can help with specific needs. Valuing all people without judgement. We will encourage increased access to resources and opportunities that people or communities need to reach their full potential.
